Vice Chairman of the Free National Movement, David Thompson spoke with ZNS News on Wednesday about the party’s campaign on Grand Bahama.
Thompson said, “we are very busy knocking on doors, canvassing, looking voters in the eye to ensure that we in Grand Bahama can get their vote on election day so as to ensure that five seats for the FNM are victorious on election day in Grand Bahama.”
The group of candidates vying for seats on the island includes Party Leader, Michael Pintard for Marco City, Frazette Gibson for Central Grand Bahama, Kwasi Thompson for East Grand Bahama, Omar Issacs for West Grand Bahama and Dr. Charlene Reid for Pineridge.
Thompson said, “all of the constituencies are involved in ensuring that the work that needs to be done in terms of voters, in terms of all their concerns that arise can be addressed. Those kind of working issues are where we are.”
According to the FNM Vice Chair the party is positioning itself as the party of necessary change. He said, “we’re the ones who would have embraced civil servants and who was promising to make sure that they get paid a fair salary, an increase of salary. We’re the ones who deal with labour and the workers and say to them…minimu wage is our idea.”
The FNM has prioritized reaching undecided and skeptical voters. “We think that if we can get them to be inspired to come out and vote that the FNM stands the better chance of winning,” Thompson said.
