An Ecumenical Church Service commemorating Majority Rule Day (January 10) was held at Mt. Thompson Seventh Day Adventist Church, January 11, 2025. In attendance were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation the. Hon. Chester Cooper; Mrs. Cecilia Cooper; Mrs. Rubyann Cooper-Darling — historically, the first woman to cast a vote in the country; Exuma Island Administrator Christian Palacios; members from the Bahamas Christian Council/Exuma, members from the uniformed branches of Exuma and Exuma residents. Deputy Prime Minister Cooper brought remarks, as well as Christian Palacios, and Pastor Stephen Smith. The sermon, surrounding Matthew 13: 18-23 (Parable of the Sower), was delivered by the District Pastor, South Bahamas Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists, Jon Dorsett.
