Members of the Free National Movement (FNM) led by Party Leader and Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard gathered at the Office of the Prime Minister for a press event on Monday to voice their concerns about crime in the country.
Pintard questioned, “what is hindering you from doing this serious work and doing it with a sense of urgency. He also spoke about the Urban Renewal program saying, “much of Urban Renewal is a duplication of work already being done in multiple ministries. And so there is a way to make it work. This isn’t it.”
FNM Deputy Leader and Member of Parliament for St. Barnabas, the Hon. Shanendon Cartwright also addressed members of the media. He said, “on behalf of the Bahamian people, the people of St. Barnabas, as the Member of Parliament, we’ve come here today not as a protest but as a plea on behalf of the Bahamian people for the government to operate with a sense of urgency and to act as this situation requires.”
Communications Director in the Office of the Prime Minister, Latrae Rahming responded saying, “I think we are extremely disappointed that they choose to play politics. I think the Bahamian people are disappointed that they choose to play politics. And we need and we demand more from our political leaders in moments of national crisis.”
