Pelican Bay Hotel Managing Director, Magnus Alnebeck recently shared the outlook for the Grand Bahama property.
Alnebeck told ZNS News bookings are expected to remain good for the rest of the year. He said, “for us at Pelican Bay it look fairly good because, again, we get mainly corporate business and there’s a lot of business activity at the moment. Celebration Key, Carnival still has a substantial amount of room nights with us. The Shipyard is starting to ramp up the work with the new docks coming. So we’re looking very positively for the rest of the year, of course, we miss the leisure tourists but at the moment it’s missing from the mix of business but hopefully that will get going.”
Pelican Bay is located opposite the Grand Lucayan Resort which is to be redeveloped by the Concord Wilshire Group. Albnebeck said he is looking forward to working beginning at the resort and the Grand Bahama International Airport. He said, “I am not privy to all the details in the whole airport conversation but I’m sure that is all part of the heads of agreement with the new purchasers/developer of the Grand Lucayan so I think positively that needs to happen. We need to have an airport that can look after the business that we will hopefully be getting once they reopen.”
