The annual church service hosted by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) was held on Sunday at the William Thompson Auditorium.
Governor General, Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Cynthia Pratt was in attendance along with Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis and Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe and other government officials.
Munroe told the gathering, “this administration remains committed to ensuring that the RBDF is not just operational but epitomizes a well oiled machine with three essential pillars at its core. Human capital, as we continue to invest in training, welfare and development of personnel. Equipment, as we continue in modernizing assets to strengthen surveillance, interdiction and operational readiness and training where we continue to invest in enhancing skill and knowledge to confront evolving security threats. These are not mere policy statements, they are action points.”
During his remarks Prime Minister Davis commended the RBDF officers for their service to the country. He said, “your emergency operations protocols and procedures and the policies you’ve developed for operational risk management reflect your professionalism readiness to act in times of crisis. And you exceptional performance during the global pandemic reminded us all that national security extends beyond traditional notions of defense. You stood on the frontlines risking you personal well being while supporting public health measures, maintaining order and protecting our communities. You helped with the fight against COVID-19 an continue to patrol our seas and carry out your regular day to day duties. You indeed embody the true essence of a people’s force. We’re deeply grateful for your service.”
A wreath laying ceremony was held before the church service at the Coral Harbour Base.
