Minister of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting, the Hon. Myles Larada accompanied management and staff of the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas in Grand Bahama to a church service held at Pro Cathedral Christ The King over the weekend.
While addressing congregants Minister Laroda spoke about politics at ZNS. He said, “I am a firm believer that public broadcasting should not have political interference. And you could speak to Clint Watson or you could speak to Shasheena and Ally, they would tell you that this minister has never ever called in to put a story or to pull a story. I leave that for the executives that are there because ZNS didn’t save the last five governments and so I don’t know if it can save any government. The Broadcasting Corporation are there, they have hired professionals and they are paid to do a job and it is my view that those professionals should be allowed to do their job without political interference.”
Laroda also commended the work of the employees in Grand Bahamas. “There’s a lot of talent in ZNS whether it be in the north or in the rest of The Bahamas. And so, again, it is my pleasure to be here but mostly to speak of the work that the Northern Service is doing, the product that they put out is as good as anywhere else in The Bahamas. We are so Nassau centric in Nassau so I come to pay homage to the Northern Service version of ZNS,” he said.
