The Free National Movement held a rally in southern New Providence on Carmichael Road on Tuesday.
FNM Leader, Michael Pintard defended the party’s commitment to established a national lottery. He said, “we said that our proposal includes accountability, independent oversight, so that your money cannot be redirected and misused by politicians. We went further to say we would not allow politicians to spend the money without specific instructions that they would have obtained from the protocols that we set up to run this lottery.”
Pintard went on the question the government’s issues with the lottery proposal given that the PLP regularized gaming.
Deputy Leader and St. James candidate, Shanendon Cartwright, spoke of the suffering of public sector workers under this administration. He said, “the member of the Royal Bahamas Police Force can’t take five more years of this government. The nurse can’t take five more years of this government. The immigration officers can’t take five more years of this government.”
Other speakers included the Candidate for Carmichael, Arinthia Komolafe; Candidate for Pinewood, Denarii Rolle and Candidate for South Beach, Darren Henfield.
Komolafe said, “the PLP has failed despite the Prime Minister’s denial of an immigration crisis. FNMs has the PLP made progress on the economy.”
The Pinewood candidate highlighted the flooding issues in the constituency. “In 2022 they had their first town hall on drainage. So imagine this, two town halls, two different sets of promises and as of today zero results,” Rolle said.
The party is expected to hold a rally on Ingraham’s Park in Cooper’s Town, Abaco on Friday, April 17th.
