The Golden Isles by-election is expected to take place on November 24th. Candidates for the Coalition Of Independents, Brian Rolle and independent candidate, Karen Butler appeared on The Rundown talk show on Tuesday.
Butler told show host Clint Watson that Bahamians are ready for change. She said, “we been lacking and losing what is fundamental to our heritage and to our culture and to what it is to actually be a Bahamian. So working in Golden Isles will affect that entire country and I tell people every day, not because you don’t live in Golden Isles means you’re immune from any of the trials and tribulations we as residents in Golden Isles experience.”
For it part, Brian Rolle expressed the view that the Progressive Liberal Party and Free National Movement have failed to address national issues. He spoke specifically about food security. He said, “personally for me I think that food sustainability should have been one of our number priority. We need to feed ourselves. We have seven hundred islands and cays why aren’t we taking that more seriously than tourism. We could feed other nations. We have the potential to do it. This is not a game and we need to stop taking this for a joke with those two parties, the PLP and FNM because obviously they are not interested in things like that.”
The Rundown airs Monday thru Thursday at 8pm on ZNS.
