Prime Minister and Progressive Liberal Party Leader, the Hon. Philip Davis recently told reporters that his Party will not conduct any public political activities during lent.
Leader of the Free National Movement, Michael Pintard weighed in on Wednesday on whether his party will follow suit. He told ZNS News, “we have consulted at the highest level with a number of those religious denominations where this is of particular concern and we’ll gonna be respectful of the period in terms of how we orchestrate our various political activities.”
Pintard said his party will release its manifesto and hold a candidates launch in a matter of weeks. He shared some of what the public can expect. He said, “addressing the affordability issue, housing, ability to pay light, to address the issue of food and other necessities that families have. To also look at the issue of immigration, of course, look at the issue of crime and what our specific plans are to address those two critical issues. And then the big issue really is healthcare, not just dealing with the issue of the infrastructure of the hospital, the scarcity of staff, equipment and medicine but also dealing with the issue of mental health.”
Leader of the Coalition of Independents, Lincoln Bain also spoke to the issue. He said, “so we’re not gonna have any rallies, public events during this time. We will have internal party events and we’ll continue with our weekly live show but in terms of campaigning, in terms of large rallies, parties, etc. we won’t be having that.”
Lent begun on Wednesday, February 18th and end on April 2nd.
