The Free National Movement (FNM) held its 2026 general election campaign launch at the Baha Mar Convention Center on Saturday.
The party showcased its slate of 41 candidates, several of whom delivered speeches, before the large crowd assembled. The event culminated with a keynote address by party leader, Michael Pintard who made the case for why the FNM should form the next government.
He said, “we believe parties should compete with each other to fulfill the national development plan that Bahamians from all walks of life said these are the priorities that are important to us.”
Pintard spoke on immigration promising a full overhaul of the current system. “No one who comes into The Bahamas illegally can ever have a pathway of becoming a Bahamian citizen. We will be firm but we will be humane.”
The FNM Leader also addressed the cost of living. He promised no VAT on essential items and support for local production. He also said the FNM plans to construct 5,000 homes. “We’ll make sure that through tax breaks, through ensuring that you can come with no funds down that you can own a piece of the rock. We want the process to be faster.”
Pintard told reporters on the sidelines of the event that the FNM will audit national IDs to determine authenticity.
