Leader of the Opposition and Free National Movement Leader, Michael Pintard nominated, along with two other candidates, to contest the Marco City seat in Grand Bahama on Thursday.
Pintard was accompanied by his wife and a group of supporters as he nominated for re-election. He expressed confidence that he will not only win his seat but that he will also become the next Prime Minister. “The schedule will be brutal but we are up for the task. We are built for this and we believe God has called all of us for this moment. We have to hit the reset button in this country. If we’re gonna growth the economy of this country, if we’re gonna stop the blatant corruption that exists and if we’re going to make the wealth more common then this is the moment.”
The Progressive Liberal Party standard bearer, Eddie Whann was the first to arrive at the nomination center. He showed emotion as he submitted his documents and the requisite $400 deposit. Whann told reporters, “when I am elected you have my word of honour I will not let you down nobody, nobody, nobody. Marco City is who I will be elected to be the MP for and Marco City is who’s gonna get my help, my attention, my everything. Not one or two people, not a blue wearing shirt person but Marco City.”
Representing the Coalition Of Independents is Jillian Bartlette. Following her successive nomination she said, “I’m already on the ground campaigning. I’ve also listened to the voices of the Marco City residents. It’s not me infiltrating what I feel they should have, I’m on the ground listening to them.”
The general election is set to take place on May 12th.
