Former Prime Minister and former Free National Movement Leader, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis nominated for re-election for the Killarney constituency on Thursday which was also his 72nd birthday.
Dr. Minnis has been a standard bearer for the FNM since 2007. However, this time around he is running as an independent candidate. He told reporters outside the nomination center that his focus is now on the people of Killarney. He said, “never before in the history of The Bahamas a prime minister who has led his party to the greatest victory recorded in The Bahamas now running independent after being booted out by that same party.”
The former prime minister went further stating, “why this is especially significant, I’m now running as independent. The voice of the people, not the voice of any political party. And with the wealth of knowledge that I have going into Parliament, believe me, they people will be speaking everyday.”
Dr. Minnis says he’s certain that he will win the election.”
