The Progressive Liberal Party released an election poll conducted by Public Domain on Wednesday showing the party leading in favorability among respondents.
According to the poll of the 805 people 38% would vote for the PLP, 18% for the Free National Movement (FNM), 12% for the Coalition Of Independents (COI) and 29% were undecided. The poll also measured which party was thought to be best for the country. In this category the response was 44% for the PLP, FNM 14%, COI 11% and undecided 31%.
Respondents also chose the PLP when asked which party creates opportunities with 41%, the FNM received 15%, the COI 15% and 29% remained undecided.
Minister of Economic Affairs and PLP candidate for St. Barnabas, Sen. Hon. Michael Halkitis weighed in on the poll results while speaking with reporters on Thursday. He said, “we’re encouraged by the poll. But what it says to us with a large number of undecided that means we must continue to work, to listen to the public, to continue, in the this time left, to implement our policy and we need to reach those voters who might be undecided and seek to convince them that the work we’ve done so far from 2021 and the plans that we have going forward justifies their faith in us. And so we want to move as many of those undecideds from the undecided column into the PLP column. We believe that we have done a lot of good work. We understand that there is a lot of work left to be done and we’re asking the Bahamian people to give us an opportunity to complete it.”
Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis has recently said the next general election will take place soon.
