The Progressive Liberal Party held a rally in West End, Grand Bahama on Friday. Addressing the crowd was Candidate Kingsley Smith; Deputy Leader, the Hon. Chester Cooper and the Party Leader, the Hon. Philip Davis.
Davis spoke highly of Smith saying, “he is one of you, born and raised in Grand Bahama with a record of giving back, of coaching and mentoring of children. He founded a baseball league because he knows sports are one of the best ways to help young people learn about discipline and strength and collaboration and sports can help strengthen bonds in our community. He’s active in his church. He’s a family man. He’s a successful professional and he’s a natural leader and he has a plan, alike the others.”
In his address Cooper told those assembled, “we will continue the great legacy of progressing Grand Bahama, creating jobs and opportunities for West Grand Bahama as we’ve already done, $1.2 billion in new investments since we came to office for the island of Grand Bahama and more than 1200 new jobs. We ga finish the job.
Smith spoke of his plans for the constituency. “We are going to rebuild the West End Police Station and we’re going to building affordable housing homes. Prime Minister, I want to ahead and ask right now that we name the government complex in Eight Mile Rock after our brother Obie Wilchcombe.”
The event was the PLPs first really in the campaign for the upcoming by-election in West Grand Bahama and Bimini.
