Bahamasair partnered with the Ministry of Social Services and Sandals Emerald Bay to fly residents of various children’s homes to Exuma for the day.
Bahamasair Managing Director, Tracy Cooper says the initiative is a part of the airline’s outreach. ”We think that this is an initiative that will go a long ways and something that we are very proud of.”
Bahamasair Chairperson, Tanya Pratt also commented on the initiative. She said, “I’ve had the opportunity to speak with some of the kids. They are so excited this is their first time to be on an airplane and you have to be here to really understand what is going on here. I am so proud to be a part of this initiative. I want to say thank you to Bahamasair, to Social Services and all of the other partners that are in Exuma that are making this happen and bringing joy to these kids today.”
Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Renewal, the Hon. Lisa Rahming was also on hand for the event. She told ZNS News, “this here is a reflection of what happens when partners and the government come together. Because you know what the government cannot do it all by itself. And so, I’m very grateful for Bahamasair and the aviation partners and of course Sandals, who have opened this door of opportunity for kids, some who have never flown in a plane before.”
For his part, Sandals Emerald Bay General Manager, Jeremy Mutton said that the initiative was all about giving.
