An Exhibition and Cultural Extravaganza was held in Downtown Freeport on January 10, 2025 in commemoration of Majority Rule Day.
Residents were treated to a stroll down memory lane with an historic exhibition erected in the car park of the Post Office, off Explorer’s Way, which highlighted the significant journey in Bahamian history that led to the Majority Rule Day Holiday.
Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey revealed that the exhibition is a tribute to the leaders, activists and citizens who courageously paved the way, and she reflected on the courage and vision that brought the country to such a pivotal point in Bahamian history.
“We wanted the kids to learn more about it, so we hope to extend it so that it gets in the school and school kids can actually come and visit the exhibit,” she said.
A cultural extravaganza, depicting an array of Bahamian talent in poetry, dance, the spoken word and song was also on display on the big stage on Explorer’s Way.
The exhibit, which signifies a day of profound importance and a celebration of unity, resilience and a collective way of the people, will be relocated to the Harold Degregory Complex where, Minister Moxey said, students will be able to visit and learn more about the road to January 10, 1967.
