The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) held its first rally since the dissolution of Parliament at the R. M. Bailey Park on Saturday night.
Prime Minister and PLP Leader, the Hon. Philip Davis delivered the keynote address making the case for why the Party should receive a second term. Mr. Davis said, “our Progressive Liberal Party is united behind a strong vision, with a detailed plan and proven teamwork. The FNM cannot say the same.”
Mr. Davis spoke on the Free National Movement’s record on illegal immigration comparing it to that of his administration. In the past five years there have been 15,000 repatriations, 12,000 sea interceptions and more than 300 immigration officers have been hired.
Mr. Davis said in the next term his administration will introduce a national biometric immigration system, crack down on employers who exploit undocumented labour and fully digitize the immigration system.
The PLP Leader also said mud slinging would not bring about progress for The Bahamas and that his party will not engage in it. “The FNM are praying that the country continues on the path of changing administrations every five years. They don’t care that that’s not good for national development to constantly start over and over again. They have no genuine plan for The Bahamas,” he said.
Mr. Davis appealed to supporters to remain organized and knock on every door.
